Mary Baker Eddy was born in Bow, New Hampshire, in 1821, the youngest daughter of devout, well-educated parents who were highly respected in their community. From her earliest years she showed an intense hunger for spiritual things. Early widowhood, protracted ill health, and an enforced separation from her only child increased her desire to find a deeper, more practical understanding of God……
